Connecting strategy with local impact
As someone who works closely with complex financial strategies, Colin saw an opportunity to support the work we do by bridging the gap between investment managers and the Board.
“As the global economic landscape becomes increasingly complex, I wanted to use my experience to help the Foundation with its investments acting as an intermediary between our investment managers and trustees.” he tells us.
Beyond financial oversight, Colin has also become directly involved in decision-making around charitable giving.
“I have enjoyed chairing a fund panel where decisions are made around the awarding of grants to various causes,” he says. “Seeing the distribution of grants helps to bring the charity to life and enables me to see the whole process from gifting through to grant giving.”
Despite having lived in and around Cambridge all his life, Colin says he was surprised by some of the findings in the Foundation’s research.
“I was amazed to read, in our Vital Signs Report, about the disparity that exists within Cambridgeshire in areas such as health, education and housing.”
This discovery has only deepened his commitment to helping the Foundation address inequality and deliver targeted support where it’s needed most.
