CCF at the House of Commons Reception
17-Apr-2009
On 1st April Kevin Brennan, the Minister for the Third Sector, hosted a reception at the House of Commons for people involved in the Grassroots Grants Programme. Guests included some of the recipients of the first year's grant money, a few of the 50+ local funders distributing the money around the country and MPs representing communities who are benefiting from the programme.
Jane Darlington, CEO of the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, was invited to the reception together with Sarah Robinson and Alyce Greenaway from the Let's Get Going Group in Peterborough. Let’s Get Going provide teenagers with special needs an opportunity to undertake the Gateway Award - which parallels the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. The group are one of the many local groups in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire to have received a Grassroots Grant from CCF.
The guests at the reception listened to some short talks from Ministers and a couple of grant recipients and were entertained by a 'street choir' which had received Grassroots funding.
The Cabinet Office has published a short video of the reception in the news section of their website and Jane is featured providing the 'last word'. Please follow this link to view.
