Cambridgeshire High Sheriff’s Award Ceremony
12-Mar-2010
The 2009/10 Cambridgeshire High Sheriff’s Award Ceremony took place on the 11th of March at Abbots Ripton Village Hall.
Guests at the annual event included several local Mayors, past and future Cambridgeshire High Sheriffs and many of the generous donors and supporters of the High Sheriff Award Fund.
17 of the 30 groups of young people that received funding from the High Sheriff’s Award Scheme sent representatives to collect their awards from Lady De Ramsey, the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire.
Awards were made to projects involving young people in positive activities and volunteering. The ‘Spice Guides’ pictured above with Lady De Ramsey, received an award which will contribute to the costs of an event for their members with special needs to celebrate the Guiding Centenary this year.
As well as the presentation of certificates and awards to groups, three young people were given awards for the significant contribution they make personally to community life.
Formal proceedings were interspersed by a boxing demonstration by Cambs Police ABC (a police and community boxing club), music from the Rap Crew and closed with a performance by the Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force Corps of Drum.
