MARS in the Community

MARS in the Community logoMARS make some of the UK’s most popular and familiar products including MARS, SNICKERS, PEDIGREE, WHISKAS, DOLMIO and UNCLE BEN’S. As part of their Community Investment programme, there are a number of ways in which they support local community projects including cash and product donations.

Cambridgeshire Community Foundation manages the MARS in the Community Fund for projects based in Peterborough.

If your community group is based within 15 miles of their Peterborough site (postcode PE2 7BY), and you are promoting Healthy Active Lifestyles, Environment, and Pet Welfare, you may be eligible to apply for a grants of £500 to £2,000, for MARS products, for MARS Associate time or other gifts in kind.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply, your organisation must:

  • Be a local charity, community group or regional branch of a national charity
  • Be within 15 miles of the Peterborough MARS site (postcode PE2 7BY)

The project you apply for must:

  • Deliver a positive and lasting benefit to the community in one of the following 3 areas: Healthy Active Lifestyles, Environment, or Pet Welfare
  • demonstrate clear objectives, measurable outcomes and impacts

Healthy active lifestyles
Encourages healthy active lifestyles through training and education:

  • Endorses or encourages healthy active lifestyles
  • Promotes physical activity
  • Promotes balanced and enjoyable diet as part of a healthy lifestyle
  • Encourages better understanding of nutrition and nutritional info

Environment
Encourages environmental awareness and responsibility through training and education:

  • Supports the preservation of the local environment
  • Improves the biodiversity of the local environment
  • Enhances the quality of life through environmental improvements
  • Encourages involvement and pride in the local environment
  • Promotes sustainable communities

Pet Welfare
Encourages Responsible Pet Ownership through training and education:

  • Provides better amenities and facilities for pets and their owners
  • Promotes healthy and positive interaction between pets and people
  • Promotes improved health and fitness of pets
  • Addresses current issues faced by pet owners within the community

The following are not eligible to apply:

  • Projects which are more than 15 miles from Peterborough
  • National charities (unless local branches of national charities)
  • Individuals for personal benefit or charitable appeals for individuals
  • Exclusive religious groups
  • Causes overseas; pressure groups
  • Political organisations/causes
  • Expeditions or overseas travels
  • 3rd party fundraising – i.e. organisations fundraising for other organisations
  • Parties or celebration events
  • Commercial sponsorship
  • Organisations with which association may be potentially harmful to the Mars business

How to apply

Applications to the MARS in the Community Fund are made via the MARS website:

This includes applications for grants, for MARS products, for MARS Associate time or for other gifts in kind.

If you have not applied to the MARS in the Community Fund before, then you will first need to register your organisation with MARS on their website. At the time of registration please email a copy of your organisation’s constitution or set of rules and your organisation’s latest financial accounts to info@cambscf.org.uk.

Once registered, you can submit your application using the online application form on the MARS website. On receipt of your application, CCF will acknowledge it and request your constitution or set of rules and your organisation’s latest financial accounts if you have not already sent them.

Deadline

There is no deadline for applications to the MARS in the Community Fund. Applications are considered on an ongoing basis. To find out when you can expect to hear the outcome of your application, please contact us.
