Welcome to the Spring 2010 Grants Bulletin from the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
This newsletter brings you information of some of our funds which are now open for applications - including the final round of funding from the Grassroots Small Grants Scheme – and some helpful hints if you are thinking of applying. Full details of all our funds are on our website. We have also been working hard to develop our grant-making processes to ensure that our funding |
|
is targeted to where it is most needed in the community. We have established our 5 core grant programmes under which our grant-making will be focussed for this financial year. Applicants for future grants must make sure their application is working towards one or more themes within one of the 5 programmes. Please read below for more information.
We look forward to hearing from you CCF

NEW! Our 5 core grant programmes |
|
| |
In order to clarify to applicants the main areas of work we wish to support and to reflect donors’ wishes, we now are targeting our main grant-making under 5 core programmes. The 5 programmes are targeted at providing opportunities for people who are marginalised, facing barriers to inclusion and disadvantaged communities. A number of themes have been defined within these programmes.
The funding we have for each of the different themes is not uniform and in some areas we are very limited to the extent we can offer support. However, over the coming months we hope to encourage more donors to offer their endorsement to these core programmes and so build the level of grants we are able to make.
So, unless we specifically advise otherwise, applicants must make sure that their project fits one or more of these themes before they apply. Projects that do not address at least one of these themes will not be prioritised for funding.
More information about our key priorities for each theme and the impact we expect funded projects to have can be found on our website.
A summary of the programmes and themes are as follows:
|
|
1. Children, young people and families • Education and skills • Social inclusion • Family crisis
2. Adults facing a life crisis • Economic hardship • Homelessness • Impact of crime and antisocial behaviour
3. Health • Healthy living • Mental health • Disability
4. The natural environment • Reduce pollution • Help limit climate change • Improved green spaces
5. Community development/engagement • Community cohesion • Sustainability • Community assets

- Use the correct postage: CCF is not able to pay to receive items that have insufficient postage. When sending documents to CCF, please ensure that you use the correct postage. We advise that you take copies of all the documents you send and that you put a return address on the envelope so the Post Office can return your documents to you if insufficient postage has been paid.

Localgiving.com update |
|
The Community Foundation Network |
| |
Groups that we have funded are invited to join Localgiving.com. Localgiving.com provides invited voluntary and community groups with their own fundraising website to attract donations and raise awareness online. There are 25 groups from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough on the Localgiving.com website at present and by mid May they had received a total of £781.00 of online donations.
One group has used the site to great success to collect sponsorship for a fun run they have undertaken. We are holding a series of informal workshops in our Cambridge office to encourage more groups to put their profiles on the Localgiving.com website – next one on 23 June (drop in anytime between 5pm and 7pm). If you are interested to be on Localgiving.com (and perhaps attend a workshop), please contact CCF – the first three months is a free trial after which there is an annual charge of £60 if you wish to stay on the site.
