Cambridge City Council Area Committee Grants
Applications are invoted for grants between £200 and £5,000 from community groups and voluntary organisations undertaking projects in the City for the benefit of residents in one of the four Areas of the City. Download pdf of leaflet here
Organisations are not eligible if they are set up and/or managed wholly or partly by a statutory organisation; seek a grant for religious instruction or worship; operate for private gain or are connected with any political party or are involved in party politics.
What can be funded?
Area Committee Grants are to support a range of local projects, activities and community initiatives including:
- Activities for local residents who are disadvantaged by either low income, disability, or discrimination
- Activities that enable people to participate in decisions and influence the services that affect their lives
- Activities that bring people together to identify common issues and to bring about change
- Activities that identify local needs and develop responsive projects
- Activities that increase the awareness of and celebrate the city’s cultural diversity
- Projects, services or activities that promote economic inclusion
- Projects that enable voluntary and community activity in new communities on fringe sites to flourish and to support the integration with neighbouring parts of the city
- Projects that improve access to arts and sports for local residents who currently have restricted access, or which enhances local provision
- Arts and sports activities that enhance Cambridge’s cultural offer by doing some or all of the following:
- Celebrating Cambridge’s cultural identity or local traditions
- Benefiting the local economy
- Promoting environmental sustainability
- Reflecting the city’s creative reputation through being new, innovative, and ambitious
- Celebrating the London 2012 Olympic Games

Sustainable City Grants are available for projects that:
- Tackle the causes and consequences of climate change
- Minimise waste
- Protect the local environment

How much can be applied?
Applicants can apply for grants between £200 and £5,000. Full project costs must be provided.
Please note: Grants will not be offered to cover costs which are already committed or have already been incurred.
Monitoring and Feedback
Groups receiving a grant will be required to provide feedback on how they spent the money and the impact the funding has made.
Groups
Groups that have a constitution, bank account and management committee and work in accordance with best practice (with, for example, polices on Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding and good accounting records) should apply by completing the online application form below( scroll down page).

If groups have exceptional reasons why they cannot submit their application to meet these deadlines, they should contact Cambridgeshire Community Foundation to discuss. Even when there are exceptional circumstances, all applicants must allow at least 4 weeks between submitting their application to CCF and the date the funding is required.

HOW TO APPLY
To apply for a grant from the Cambridge City Council Area Committee Grants, just complete our online application form.
The online application form has two stages: Part A which you submit online, and Part B which requires you to send accompanying documentation by post. Details of the information you are required to send in Part B is listed below, and you should make sure you have all the information ready to send to us before you submit your online application.
Part A - Complete the online submission
Select the appropriate online application.
The links will open a separate window. You are invited to enter your email address which will automatically send an email to you containing a link to your individual application form. You are able to enter information using the online form, save it and return to it as many times as you like before submitting. You will also be able to print a draft to share with your committee.
Once you have submitted the online application form, your application will be sent to us automatically and we can begin to process your application immediately.
Part B – Post us your accompanying information
Once you have completed the online form you will be sent an email with a pdf attachment called Part B of the application form.
The attachment asks for the following information/action:
- Your organisation’s bank details
- Contact details for two independent referees
- Your organisation’s accounts for the most recent past two financial years
- A copy of ONE bank statement from the last 3 months
- A signed copy of your organisation’s set of rules / terms of reference / constitution
- Your Equal Opportunities Policy
- The names and addresses of management committee members, with cheque signatories identified.
- If you are part of a larger regional or national organisation, evidence that you operate independently
- Three different quotes for any capital items
You should make sure you have this information ready before you submit your online application so you can send it to us promptly. We will not consider your application unless we have received all the requested information.
Please note:
- If you have previously applied to CCF are have sent copies of any of the items listed in Part B, then you do not need to send additional copies unless they have recently been updated.
- Remember to write your return address on any package you send to us by post as we are unable to pay the surcharges applied if you fail to pay the correct postage - your return address will get your documents back to you.
